Advanced user access is designed for selected individuals within an organisation/facility to perform selected tasks (as well as having access to all resources that general users have). Tasks include: creating and editing online practice manuals using the JBI Evidence-Based Manual Builder, ordering copies of practice manuals, submitting online requests for evidence, setting up structural levels for a facility using the JBI POOL software (administrative user), and setting up organisational audits within JBI PACES. It can also assist organisations to track information and keep accurate up-to-date records.

Q) What is the difference between searching in Step 1 (Search for Evidence) and searching in Step 3 (Summarised Evidence)?

A) The information found in Step 3 (Summarised Evidence) of JBI COnNECT contains evidence that has already been summarised for your convenience in the form of Best Practice Information Sheets, Evidence Summaries and Care Bundles. This enables you to access information that can be easily disseminated to the staff in your facility to assist them in making informed decisions about the clinical care they provide.

If you can't find what your looking for in Step 3, you can use Step 1 (Search for Evidence) to find further evidence that may or may not have been summarised including systematic reviews, evidence summaries and links to external databases which you may choose to search.

Q) What kind of records are available in JBI COnNECT?

A) There are a number of records available to access through JBI COnNECT:

Q) Can I request information on a particular topic not covered in JBI COnNECT?

A) Yes, evidence summary requests can be submitted to the COnNECT team online.

**PLEASE NOTE: Online requests can only be made by advanced users of a membership/subscription. General users are encouraged to pass on their requests to advanced users for submission. If sufficient information for a summary is located, the advanced user is notified that a summary has been added into the database. We do encourage users to search external databases (available through Step 1) for information first.

Q) What are the JBI Levels of Evidence?

A) In order to incorporate the 'best-available' evidence into our records the COnNECT team must first rate the quality of evidence in each article, trial, review or paper we read. To help us with this process, JBI has developed its own levels of evidence to help make decisions on the quality of the information we choose to include. Click here to view the JBI levels of evidence.

Q) If I am an advanced user constructing a manual can I alter information covered in a care bundle?

A) Care bundles included in JBI COnNECT are based on the best-available evidence and are not designed to be changed. By altering the content of a care bundle you are potentially changing the outcome to one that is not evidence-based.

JBI COnNECT does contain an additional notes feature, that allows advanced users to add in free text that sits underneath a care bundle in a practice manual. This feature is designed to allow members/subscribers to customise their manuals to make it highly specific to their organisation; it is frequently used to include information on the location of equipment.

Q) How can I contact other like-minded clinicians, healthcare professionals or researchers, for additional information on my topic of interest?

A) CHAINs (Contact, Help, Advice & Information Networks) are an on-line, searchable database of contact details for people with a health or social care background who are interested in exchanging ideas and knowledge in a simple and informal way. There are currently four CHAINs: CHAIN 1 for people who are interested in research and using research evidence to benefit care and service provision, CHAIN 2 for those with a focus on widening participation in learning; and CHAIN 3 for people who are interested in innovation and improvement in health care; CHAIN 4 for people working with Macmillan Cancer Support. More information is available from http://chain.ulcc.ac.uk/chain/index.html.
