3 Centres Collaboration Midwifery Guidelines (Australia): A Joint steering group of senior obstetric and midwifery managers from Melbourne's three tertiary maternity hospitals or 'centres' - Mercy Hospital for Women, The Royal Women's Hospital and Monash Medical Centre (Southern Health). The steering group also has two senior representatives from the Victorian Department of Human Services (DHS).
Agency for Health Research & Quality (AHRQ) (US): AHRQ is a home to research centers that specialise in major areas of health care research and contains many evidence-based midwifery guidelines.
Guidelines Advisory Committee(GAC)(Canada): GAC promotes better health for the people of Ontario by encouraging physicians and other practitioners to use evidence-based clinical practice guidelines and clinical practices based on best available evidence.
Guidelines International Network (GIN) (by subscription): G-I-N facilitates collaborative work between guideline organisations and experts. These guideline professionals are engaged in developing and implementing resources that will enhance the quality of the guidelines and be more applicable to your own local needs. There are a few helpful guidelines in here but subscription is needed.
JSI EUROPE: Safe Motherhood Strategies Project results from collaboration between DFID (UK Department for International Development), the European Commission, the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp University and John Snow International - UK. Its commitment is to the reduction of maternal mortality, and to ensure that its strategy and policies are based on the available evidence. This site has very useful information relating to pregnancy & women's health.
National Collaborating Centre for Women & Children (UK): The NCC is one of seven National Collaborating Centres funded by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) to develop the clinical guidelines commissioned by the Department of Health for England and the Welsh Assembly Government. The main aim of the centre is to develop clinical and cost effective guidelines for women's and children's health.
National Guideline Clearing House(NGC)(US): NGC is a public resource for evidence-based clinical practice guidelines. NGC is an initiative of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
National Library of Medicine: The US National Library of Medicine site includes free online search capability for MEDLINE Plus, MEDLINE/PubMed (References and abstracts from 4300 biomedical journals), ClinicalTrials.gov (Provides information for patients about clinical research studies), DIRLINE (Directory of health organisations), LOCATORplus (Catalogue of books, journals, and audiovisuals in the NLM collections), NLM Gateway (Web interface that searches multiple NLM retrieval systems)
NHS - Women's Health Specialist Library: The Women's Health library has been developed to serve the information needs of healthcare professionals involved in the care of women. It is a very useful site for summarised best evidence in maternal health & women's health issues.
NICE Midwifery Guidelines- UK: The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) is the independent organisation responsible for providing national guidance on the promotion of good health and the prevention and treatment of ill health in the U.K.
Royal College of Midwives UK Evidence-based guidelines for midwifery-led care in labour (January 2005): The current content of this web page promotes quality in midwifery practice, presents midwifery practice guidelines linked to midwifery-led care in labour.
Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada-: Clinical Practice Guidelines based on the foremost scientific knowledge available, advance the obstetric and gynecology specialties and promote informed choices for women in Canada and abroad. All guidelines are posted after they have been published in the peer-reviewed journal, Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecoloy of Canada (JOGC).
THE PAN AMERICAN HEALTH ORGANIZATION (PAHO): The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) is an international public health agency with more than 100 years of experience in working to improve health and living standards of the countries of the Americas. It has very useful best-evidence practice information on maternal health and many other related health issues.
The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG): RANZCOG is dedicated to the establishment of a high standard of practice in obstetrics and gynaecology and women's health. The web site has useful information and evidence-based guidelines, articles, etc.
